From 1937 the school was named the Kaiserin-Friedrich-Schule (KFS), regaining its previous name Kaiserin-Friedrich-Gymnasium in February 2000. For centuries the school was for boys only, but destruction of the Bad Homburg's Lyzeum senior girls school in the Second World War led to girls being admitted in increasing numbers from the late 1940s. Kaiserin Friedrich, as she became known, was born HRH the Princess Royal Victoria of the British Empire, eldest child of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1840. In 1851 she married Crown Prince. The planes undertook several reconnaissance and bombing flights over Tsingtao, among the latter the first seaborne attack against a ship, the Austro-Hungarian cruiser SMS Kaiserin Elisabeth. But except some minor damages caused at some buildings, like the Moltke Barracks, those attacks were not successful.
